Arcadia, FL - Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on US 17
Arcadia, FL (February 27, 2023) - A 19-year-old Arcadia man died in a motorcycle crash on Monday morning, February 27th. The accident took place on US Highway 17.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling on US 17 and was navigating a curve. As the rider rounded the curve, he was hit by a semi-truck that was attempting to make a left turn into the roadway. The rider was ejected from his bike. He died at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time. There is no additional information available.
Motorcycle accidents in Florida claim the lives of more than 500 people every year. In addition, thousands more will be injured when they are involved in collisions that take place across our state. More than 80% of all Florida motorcycle crashes will result in either death or serious injuries. Many of these accidents will occur because of the negligence of other drivers.
