In Florida, it is illegal to leave the scene of a car accident, especially an accident where injuries are involved. However, many drivers choose to flee anyway, perhaps in an attempt to avoid legal responsibility for their actions. When these drivers are apprehended they can face serious criminal charges as well as civil liability for the crash. Most hit-and-run collisions are caused due to careless and reckless actions immediately before the accident.
