Keystone Heights, FL - Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Blanding Blvd.

Keystone Heights, FL (February 24, 2023) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place in Keystone Heights on Thursday afternoon. The collision happened on Blanding Boulevard near County Road 352.

According to a report from the scene, an 89-year-old man was traveling westbound on CR 352. At the same time, a driver was operating an SUV northbound on Blanding Boulevard. The SUV entered the intersection and collided with the motorcyclist. The unidentified rider suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation at this time. No further details are available.

Motorcycles are a popular mode of transportation in Florida. However, they are not without risk. Although motorcycles make up only about 3% of all registered motor vehicles, they account for about 20% of all traffic fatalities in Florida.
