Kissimmee, FL - 73-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Florida Turnpike
Kissimmee, FL (March 29, 2023) - A 73-year-old man in Kissimmee was killed in a pedestrian crash on Tuesday night, March 28th. The accident happened just before 9:00 p.m. on the Florida Turnpike near mile marker 247.
The man was walking in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike when he was hit by an SUV. He was then struck by another car and came to rest in the roadway. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the crash scene. His identity has not been released at this time. All lanes of the Turnpike were shut down while police investigated the crash. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
No other injuries were reported in the accident. An investigation is still ongoing. There is no further information available.
Pedestrian accidents in Florida often result in incapacitating injuries. Sadly, approximately 500 pedestrians are killed every year in crashes that occur in Florida. Many of these accidents will take place because of the actions of negligent drivers. Police must carefully investigate each accident in order to determine how it took place.
