Orlando, FL (April 3, 2023) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly bicycle accident in Orlando on Sunday afternoon, April 2nd. The accident took place at the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Doleres Drive.

According to troopers, a 7-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on a trail. As he moved off the trail, he was hit by a pickup truck. The truck then veered off the road and hit two curbs, a rock, and a sign before coming to rest. The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the pickup was treated for serious injuries. Three other people were hurt in the accident.

No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. An investigation is ongoing.

Florida bicycle accidents lead to about 100 fatalities each year. Bicycle riders have no protection from the impact of an accident and have a high chance of being seriously injured or killed when they are involved in a collision. A bicycle accident must be carefully investigated in order to determine the cause and who should be held responsible.

We offer our deepest condolences to those who were impacted by this Orlando bicycle accident.
