Port Charlotte, FL (October 21, 2021) - A 57-year-old man was killed in a multi-car crash on I-75. The accident took place near Port Charlotte on Wednesday, October 20th.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to troopers, a man was riding a motorcycle northbound on I-75 when he was hit by another vehicle. The man, who was not identified, was thrown from his bike and landed in the center lane of the highway. A car traveling behind the man struck him while he was in the roadway. The man died at the crash scene.
Troopers remained on the scene for several hours while investigating the accident. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.

In 2019, there were more than 3,000 people killed in Florida car accidents. Many of these accidents took place on major highways and interstates. With higher speed limits and congested traffic, highways are a common location for serious and fatal accidents caused by negligent drivers.
