Port Charlotte, FL - Motorcyclist Killed in Accident on Edgewater Dr.
Port Charlotte, FL (March 23, 2023) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place in Port Charlotte on Wednesday night, March 22nd. The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Edgewater Drive.
Police say that a 28-year-old man from Punta Gorda was traveling eastbound Edgewater approaching the intersection with Severin Road. At the same time, a 52-year-old Port Charlotte man was operating a vehicle on Severin Road. The motorcycle was hit by the SUV and sustained heavy damage. The rider died at a local hospital. No one else was injured in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
Motorcycle accidents in Florida claim the lives of about 500 people on a yearly basis. In addition, thousands more will be hurt. Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent or careless driving, often by the other driver involved in the accident.
