Punta Gorda, FL - One Killed, One Hurt in Car Accident on US 41
Punta Gorda, FL (March 15, 2023) - One person was killed, and another was hurt following a car accident in Punta Gorda on Wednesday, March 15th. The collision occurred around 3:15 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 41 and Notre Dame Boulevard.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old man from Punta Gorda was traveling southbound on US 41 with a 17-year-old passenger in his vehicle. At the same time, a 59-year-old Punta Gorda man was making a right turn from Notre Dame Boulevard on US 41. The 59-year-old's car was hit from behind and traveled onto the shoulder, where it overturned. The 59-year-old man died at the scene, while the two teenagers suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
No one involved in the accident has been identified at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
