Tampa, FL (February 5, 2023) - A 45-year-old woman was killed in a crash that took place in the Tampa area on Sunday morning, February 5th. The accident occurred around 1:25 a.m. on US Highway 301 at the intersection with Ranch Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to a report from troopers, an 18-year-old woman from Riverview was traveling westbound on Ranch Road when she made a turn into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The two vehicles collided, and the truck hit a fence before overturning. A passenger in the truck was ejected and died at the scene. The driver of the pickup also suffered serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the car and her 18-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries. No one involved was identified.

An investigation is underway at this time. No further information has been released.

Serious and fatal crashes occur on a daily basis throughout Florida. Sadly, more than eight fatal accidents will be reported each day on our state's roadways. Most car accidents are preventable and occur because of driver negligence. Police will closely investigate each accident in order to determine the cause and who should be held responsible.
