The Villages, FL (March 24, 2023) - An 80-year-old resident of The Villages died in a Friday morning crash between a bicycle and a golf cart. The accident happened around 8:25 a.m. on Hillsborough Trail near Ichabod Way.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was riding his bicycle westbound on Hillsborough Trail. At the same time, a 69-year-old New York woman was operating her golf cart on Hillsborough Trail when she tried to turn onto Ichabod Way. The woman turned directly into the path of the bicycle, causing a collision. The man was struck by the golf cart and thrown into the roadway.

Paramedics rushed the victim to a local hospital, where had later died from his injuries. His identity was not released The driver remained at the accident scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

No further information has been released.
