Indian River County, FL - Serious Injuries Reported in Crash at 43rd Avenue and 16th Street

A serious two-car crash was reported in Indian River County on Wednesday, August 28th. The crash took place just before 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and 16th Street. According to reports, a Ford F-150 was traveling on 16th and came to a flashing red light. The Ford failed to stop for the traffic signal and proceeded through the intersection, colliding with a grey Ford Focus that was traveling southbound on 43rd. The Florida Highway Patrol arrived on the scene. Troopers said that the Focus driver was transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was not hurt. Madeira Beach, FL - Jet Ski Rider Dies After Being Run Over by Boat

A jet ski rider was killed in a crash along the Intracoastal Waterway in Madeira Beach on Friday, August 30th. The incident took place around 4:50 p.m. near the Tom Stuart Causeway. According to reports, 56-year-old Robert Krysztofowicz, of East Aurora, NY, was riding a Yamaha jet ski in the Waterway. At the same time, 35-year-old Jesse Mayer was, of Redington Beach, FL was driving a 37-foot boat in the same area. Mayer was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck the jet ski in a slow wake zone. The boat traveled over the jet ski. Green Cove Springs, FL - Two Killed in Fiery Crash on State Road 16

A fiery crash in Green Cove Springs has led to the deaths of two people. The crash took place on Saturday, August 31st around 5:00 a.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Dodge Stratus traveling on State Road 16 attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Blanding Boulevard. As the Stratus was making its turn, it was struck by a pickup truck. The Stratus erupted in flames after the accident. Both the driver and passenger in the Dodge were killed in the crash. Orange County, FL - Deputy Sustains Broken Arm and Leg After Being Struck by Vehicle

A deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Office suffered a broken arm and leg, as well as a head injury in a crash that took place on Thursday, August 29th. The accident happened on South Apopka Vineland Road, near Conroy Windermere Road. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to troopers, a deputy arrived on the scene to investigate a reported crash. As the deputy got out of his patrol car, he was struck by a 2007 Ford Focus. The deputy was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital to undergo surgery. The deputy has been identified only as a 29-year-old male. He is expected to recover. Orange County, FL - Crash with Entrapment Causes Injuries on State Road 528

Officials were on the scene of a crash with entrapment on State Road 528 in Orange County. The crash was reported on Wednesday, August 28th. Orange County Fire Rescue arrived on scene and located a minivan and a dump truck involved in the collision. The minivan became lodged underneath the dump truck following impact. There is no word on exactly how the crash took place. Rescue workers transported the male minivan driver to Orlando Health where he was listed in fair condition. The driver of the dump truck was not hurt but the truck spilled about 100 gallons of fuel into the roadway. Read More

Sumter County, FL - Tire Blowout Causes Head-On Crash, Killing Three

Three people died when a car crashed head-on into an SUV on State Road 50 in Sumter County. The crash took place on Friday, August 30th around 10:30 am. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 48-year-old woman was driving a Chevy Blazer around on SR 50 when her left front tire blew out. The car then veered over the center line where it collided head-on with a Ford SUV. The female driver of the Blazer and male driver of the SUV were killed a the scene. A 49-year-old passenger in the Blazer was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center. A passenger in the SUV was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Plant City, FL - Woman Killed in I-4 Pedestrian Crash Identified

A woman from Plant City who died in a pedestrian crash this week has been identified by police. The crash took place on Wednesday, August 28th along Interstate 4. Officers say that 29-year-old Zenaida Edith Lucena was walking eastbound near milepost 13 and standing near a light-colored sedan. As she walked away from the sedan, she attempted to cross the highway. As she was crossing, Lucena was hit by a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500. Lucena suffered critical injuries and died in the crash. The driver of the Ram was not identified and it is not believed that anyone else was injured in the accident. Read More

Bartow, FL - Deadly Crash Involving Car and School Bus Takes Place on County Road 640

A fatal accident involving a school bus and a car was reported in Bartow on Thursday, August 29th. The crash happened on County Road 640 around 5:00 p.m. Police say that 28-year-old Michael Velasco was driving a 2017 Ford Focus on CR 640 when, for unknown reasons, his car hydroplaned directly into the path of an oncoming school bus. The bus, which had four students on board at the time, collided with the Focus. Velasco's vehicle was crushed underneath the bus following impact and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus and an attendant were also injured in the crash. The two were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Read More

Fort Myers, FL - Fatal Hit-and-Run Takes Place on US 41

Police were on the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident along US 41 in Fort Myers on Friday, August 30th. The incident took place near the Sam's Club intersection. According to police, the driver who caused the fatal crash fled on foot following the accident. Police were able to later locate and arrest an unidentified suspect in connection with the collision. The name of the deceased victim has not been released at this time. The crash caused all lanes of US 41 to close while police investigated.
