Punta Gorda, FL - Fatal Crash Takes Place Friday on Tamiami Trail

Police were at the scene of a deadly car accident in Punta Gorda on Friday, January 31st. The crash happened in the 12000 block of Tamiami Trail. According to authorities, the collision took place in the northbound lanes of the roadway. When rescue workers arrived at the scene, they discovered at least one person suffering from crash-related injuries. The victim was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained. There is no word on the identity of the victim or the cause of the crash at this time. The northbound lanes of Tamiami Trail were closed as officers worked at the scene. Read More

Miami, FL - Woman in Critical Condition After Being Hit by Car Outside Salvation Army

A woman was critically hurt after being hit by a car outside of a Miami Salvation Army store. Police say that Jennifer Williams was with her boyfriend in the parking of the store on Northwest 38th Street when a car suddenly came towards them at high speed. The car, identified as a Volkswagen, crashed through a fence and struck both Williams and her boyfriend. The driver then attempted to leave the scene. The Miami Fire Rescue responded to the crash and transported Williams to Jackson Memorial Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries. According to witnesses, the driver smelled of alcohol when exiting the vehicle. Read More

Orange County, FL - Infant Critically Hurt in Rear-End Crash on Turnpike

An infant suffered critical injuries in a two-car crash on the Florida's Turnpike. The crash was reported on Friday, January 31st near mile marker 261. The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 9:20 a.m. The crash took place in the southbound lanes of the roadway. According to troopers, 32-year-old Lucie Alexandre was driving a 2013 Mercedes SUV when she failed to slow for stopped traffic. The Mercedes collided with the rear-end of a 2011 Toyota Corolla driven by a 69-year-old man from Clermont, FL. The man's grandson, a 4-month-old baby, was in a car seat in the back of the vehicle. The baby suffered critical injuries and was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital. The Corolla driver and his wife were hospitalized with minor injuries. Read More

Palm Beach County, FL - 1 Hurt in US 27 Rollover Crash

A woman was hurt in a crash that occurred near US 27 in Palm Beach County. The crash was reported on Thursday, January 30th around 7:30 p.m. Rescue workers were called to the scene near John Stretch Memorial Park in reference to the crash. When they arrived, they found one vehicle rolled into a guardrail. The vehicle suffered heavy damage as a result of the collision. One occupant of the vehicle, an adult female, was extricated by rescue workers and taken to a local trauma hospital. There is no word on her identity or condition at this time. No information was given as to the cause of the crash or number of victims involved. Read More

Tampa, FL - Teenager Critically Hurt in Thursday Hit-and-Run Crash

A teenager suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run crash that took place in Tampa on Thursday, January 30th. The collision was reported around 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of 122nd Avenue E and 15th Street. According to reports, 24-year-old Nakeeba Elia Ryan was driving an SUV when she struck a teenager that was crossing the road near the intersection. Following the crash, Ryan exited her vehicle, walked around the car, and then got back into the vehicle and left the scene. She failed to render any aid to the victim on site. The teenager was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. Read More

Port Charlotte, FL - 1 Killed in Crash Near El Jobean Road

A 59-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving another vehicle on Thursday on Port Charlotte. The crash was reported at the intersection of El Jobean Road and Biscayne Drive. According to reports, Ilija Jovanovich was riding a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of the roadway, approaching the intersection. As he proceeded to the intersection, a 1998 Mercury Sable pulled in front of him, striking the motorcycle. Jovanovich was ejected from the bike. Rescue workers arrived and he was pronounced dead at the crash scene. The driver of the Sable was identified as 31-year-old Shanni Cardoso. Cardoso was not injured in the crash. There is no word on whether any charges are expected. Read More

Orlando, FL - Deja D’Mia Gatling Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash

A 21-year-old Orlando woman is dead following a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday, January 29th. The Orlando Police Department was called to North Orange Blossom Trail near Colonial Drive on Wednesday evening. When officers arrived, they found a woman lying in the roadway. The woman had been struck by a vehicle that later fled the scene. Authorities identified the pedestrian as Deja D'Mia Gatling. Gatling died at the scene from her injuries. No information is available on the type of vehicle that struck Gatling or the suspect at this time. Read More

Lee County, FL - Multi-Car Crash with Injuries Reported on Corkscrew Road

Police were on the scene of a multi-car crash on I-75 in Lee County. The crash was reported around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29th. The Florida Highway Patrol along with the San Carlos Park fire department and EMTs all responded to the accident scene. The crash happened near the intersection of Corkscrew Road and Alico Road. At this time, it is not clear what caused the crash but investigators believe that one of the vehicles may have been traveling slowly in the rainy weather. Injuries were reported in the crash but there is no word on the nature or extent of the injuries. Read More
