An infant suffered critical injuries in a two-car crash on the Florida's Turnpike. The crash was reported on Friday, January 31st near mile marker 261.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 9:20 a.m. The crash took place in the southbound lanes of the roadway. According to troopers, 32-year-old Lucie Alexandre was driving a 2013 Mercedes SUV when she failed to slow for stopped traffic. The Mercedes collided with the rear-end of a 2011 Toyota Corolla driven by a 69-year-old man from Clermont, FL. The man's grandson, a 4-month-old baby, was in a car seat in the back of the vehicle. The baby suffered critical injuries and was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital. The Corolla driver and his wife were hospitalized with minor injuries.
