Boca Raton, FL (September 7, 2018) - An 83 year old man was killed in a Thursday crash in Boca Raton. According to authorities, 83 year old Joseph Lasorda was the driver of a vehicle that attempted to make a left turn in front of a police car on Thursday night.
Lasorda's vehicle collided with the police vehicle driven by Sgt. Doug Immler of the Boca Raton Police Department. Lasorda sustained critical injuries in the crash and later succumbed to those injuries at Delray Medical Center. Immler sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
Lasorda is the brother of famed Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda. Joseph Lasorda's wife said he was "a friend to everyone."
