Bookeelia, FL (March 12, 2019) - A 74-year-old tricyclist is dead and a driver has been charged in connection with a crash that took place on Monday, March 11th.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to Stringfellow Road around 5:30 p.m. in reference to a crash involving a car and a bicycle. Investigators say that the victim, Linda Potter, was riding a tricycle northbound on Stringfellow when she attempted to make a left turn. 71-year-old John Lackey, III was driving directly behind Potter's tricycle at the time. Lackey failed to slow down and collided with the back of the tricycle.
Potter sustained critical injuries and died at the crash scene. Troopers charged Lackey with careless driving for his role in causing the crash.
