Bostwick, FL (November 8, 2018) - Six people were hurt when an Amtrak train collided with a flatbed truck on Thursday, November 8th. The accident happened near US 17 in Bostwick.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck was stopped at a crossing on the tracks. The crossing arms came down on the trailer as the train barreled down the tracks toward the truck. The truck cabin was not hit in the crash. The trailer was struck instead, spilling the truck's load across the roadway.
Six people on board the train were hurt in the crash and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Fortunately, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. Police report that the truck driver will be cited for causing the crash.
