Bradenton, FL (August 6, 2019) - A 37-year-old semi-truck driver ran a red light and caused an eight-vehicle crash in Sarasota on Monday, August 5th. The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Fruitville Road and Coburn Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck crashed into a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old man from Sarasota, causing the man to sustain injuries. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The initial impact set off a chain-reaction crash that involved six other cars. Five other drivers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation at this time.
