Bradenton, FL (January 3, 2020) - A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash that took place in Bradenton on Thursday, January 2nd. The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Whitfield Avenue.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol, say that James Smith was on a Yamaha motorcycle attempting to make a right turn into a 7-Eleven when a 2019 Chevy Camaro made a turn in front of Smith's motorcycle, causing a collision between the two vehicles. Smith was ejected from the bike.
Rescue workers transported him to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The other driver has not been identified and there is no word on whether any other injuries were sustained.
The crash is under investigation at this time.
