Brooksville, FL (November 28, 2019) - A woman from New Port Richey died following a two-car crash on Wednesday, November 27th. The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on Cortez Boulevard.
Based on reports, the woman was traveling northbound on Cortez in a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. As she approached the intersection with State Road 50, she crossed over a raised center median for unknown reasons. As her car veered into the southbound lanes, she collided with the left side of a 2002 Dodge Ram driven by 41-year-old James Couch. Rescue workers responded to the scene and transported the 66-year-old Lancer driver to Reginal Medical Center Bayonet Point where she succumbed to her injuries. Couch and his passenger, 34-year-old Staci Robinson, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating. Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
