Cape Coral, FL (November 16, 2020) - One person suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash that took place on Sunday in Cape Coral. The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. along Eldorado Parkway, near the intersection with Coronado Parkway.
The Cape Coral Police Department, along with rescue crews, responded to the accident scene. According to police, 28-year-old Scott Kirkwood was driving an SUV on Coronado Parkway when he struck a second SUV. Kirkwood was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was treated for minor injuries. Police are still investigating at this time but it is believed that both alcohol and speed played a role in the accident.
Police remained at the scene for several hours and motorists were advised to avoid the area. An investigation is ongoing at this time.
According to the most recent statistics, there were more than 400,000 reported car accidents in Florida last year. Among these crashes, about 250,000 people suffered injuries, many of them serious in nature. A Florida car accident happens very suddenly and unexpectedly and can result in life-altering consequences for victims.
