A 79-year-old man from Davenport died in a two-car crash on US 27 on Wednesday, May 27th. The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the roadway.
According to a report, Henry Blaut was traveling eastbound in a 2016 Chevrolet Sedan just before 9:00 a.m. As Blaut made a left turn, his vehicle was struck by a 2003 Cadillac Escalade driven by 37-year-old Princess Strother. Both cars came to rest in the median of US 27. Blaut died at the crash scene. Strother was taken by ambulance to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. An investigation is ongoing at this time and alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in the crash.
