Three people were killed in a wrong-way crash in Inverness on Monday, December 24th. The crash happened on South Pleasant Grove Road near East Amy Lane
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 53-year-old Phillip Sawhill of Land 'o Lakes was traveling northbound on Pleasant Grove when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone. As Sawhill passed the vehicle, he collided head-on with a Kia traveling in the opposite direction. Sawhill's Camry caught fire after the collision. The driver of the Kia, along with two passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims have been identified as 62-year-old Amalia Gomara, 86-year-old Clara Gorrin, and 85-year-old Nilda Cordovi. Sawhill suffered serious injuries.
