Citrus County, FL (May 15, 2021) - Two women were taken to a local hospital following a crash between two vehicles at the Duke Energy Crystal River Complex on Friday. The crash happened around 3:00 a.m. near the complex on West Power Line Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 31-year-old Catherine Marie Cobb was driving a gray Dodge Durango on Powerline Street when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a metal bar at the gated entrance to the complex. Both Cobb and her passenger, 31-year-old Sarah Michael Purdy, were seriously injured in the crash. Both women were airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment of incapacitating injuries. A reportable car accident in Florida takes place about once every 90 seconds. Sadly, many accident victims are hurt in crashes that are not their fault. These victims are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when they are affected by the actions of negligent drivers. According to statistics, more than 200,000 people were hurt in Florida car accidents in 2019 with many of these victims being seriously hurt.
We would like to offer our thoughts and well-wishes to the two victims of this Citrus County car accident. We hope for their complete and speedy recovery.
