Clay County, FL (August 25, 2021) - A 31-year-old woman died in a car accident that took place in Clay County on Monday night. The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. on Laurelwood Drive near Parkview Drive.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to an initial report, a 35-year-old man was driving a sedan at a high rate of speed on Laurelwood. The sedan approached a roundabout and the man failed to negotiate a curve. The car went off the road and struck several trees before coming to rest. The 31-year-old woman was a passenger in the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to Orange Park Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
The identities of the victims were not revealed. Police continue to investigate the collision at this time.
