Estero, FL (August 25, 2021) - A 19-year-old died in a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Estero on Wednesday, August 25th. The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. on Corkscrew Road near Burgundy Farms Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 24-year-old man from Immokalee was driving westbound on Corkscrew. As the man approached a curve, he lost control of his car and crossed the yellow line. The man then overcorrected the vehicle and traveled onto the grassy shoulder. He came back on the road and crossed the centerline again before striking a pickup truck head-on. The 19-year-old was a passenger in the truck and died at the scene. A second passenger was seriously injured. The driver of the sedan and a third passenger in the pickup sustained minor injuries. Corkscrew Road was closed while police investigated.
The identities of the deceased victims were not immediately released. A crash investigation remains ongoing at this time. There is no further information available.
