A fatal airplane accident took the life of one and injured another at the Spruce Creek Fly-In in Port Orange. The accident took place last night when the airplane suddenly crashed into an empty lot near runway 6. The plane almost hit a home when it landed.
The aircraft is registered to James B. Savage of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. Nobody on the ground was injured when the plane made its landing. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and claimed that one person was stuck inside the plane and another person had to be pulled out by bystanders.
The person who was pulled from the airplane died at the scene. The other man was left in critical condition and his legs had been trapped as well as receiving an open head injury. He was declared a trauma alert. At this time, the men are being identified.
