Flagler County, FL (December 26, 2018) - A man is dead and a teenage girl is injured after a crash involving a minivan and a dump truck in Flagler County. The crash happened just after 6:00 am on Wednesday, December 26th.
The incident happened in the northbound lanes of US 1, near Old Dixie Highway and Belle Terre Boulevard. According to authorities, the man and the teenager were traveling in Ford Windstar minivan when they collided with the back of a dump truck. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol, along with rescue workers rushed to the scene. The driver of the Windstar was taken to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach where he succumbed to his injuries, while the teenager was taken to Florida Hospital in Flagler with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the driver nor the teenage passenger was immediately identified. The dump truck driver was not hurt.
Police remained on scene until about 10:30 am conducting their investigation. Speed may have played a factor in the crash but there is no additional information at this time.
