Florida (July 4, 2018) – A Florida man lost his life in a serious kayaking accident on the river when his kayak flipped over and he was pulled underneath. Officials say that it happened yesterday around 4 p.m.
At the time, the man was in a group of five kayakers and was visiting with friends. He was trying to get around a bridge in a difficult-to-navigate-area when his kayak suddenly flipped over. The current was so strong that he wasn’t able to pull free from it.
A fisherman was fishing nearby and was able to make a call to 911. A search team arrived at the scene and tried to rescue him for over an hour. Though he died, they were able to pull him out within the hour.
His name and age has not yet been released.
