Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 30, 2019) - An elderly man was injured after his car was hit by a dump truck and he became trapped inside his vehicle. The incident happened on Tuesday, January 29th in the 1600 block of Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.
Police said that the driver, who has not been identified, was in his lane of travel when a dump truck driver lost control and veered into the oncoming travel lane. The dump truck collided head-on with the car, trapping the man inside his car. Firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to use the jaws of life to free the man from his vehicle.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Broward Health Medical Center. He is expected to make a full recovery. The crash currently remains under investigation. There is no word on whether the dump truck driver will face any charges.
