Fort Myers, FL (May 30, 2021) - Eleven people sustained injuries in a car accident that took place on Saturday in Fort Myers. The accident happened on U.S. Highway 41 near Island Park Road.
The South Trail Fire Department responded to the crash scene, along with police officers. Four of the injured victims were children and seven were adults. All four of the children had serious injuries while none of the adults sustained life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash, including the number of vehicles involved, is not known at this time. The crash resulted in U.S. 41 being reduced to one lane on the southbound side. Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible.

According to statistics from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were more than 400,000 reported car accidents in our state in 2019. More than 200,000 of these crashes also resulted in injuries to one or more victims.
