Fort Walton Beach, FL (November 6, 2018) - Authorities in Fort Walton Beach are investigating after a bicycle rider was struck while crossing the road. The crash took place on Monday, November 5th around 4:00 pm.
Police say that Barry Todd Manfield was traveling southbound on his bike near Hawkins Road. At the same time, a Kia Sorento passing through the intersection stuck Banfield as he tried to cross the road. Banfield was transported to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Kia has been identified as 56-year-old Deborah Lee Long. Neither Long nor her passenger suffered injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
