Gainesville, FL (September 10, 2019) - A pedestrian in Gainesville was killed after being hit by a car on Monday, September 9th. The crash occurred around 8:40 p.m. on Southeast 27th Street near Southeast 15th Avenue.
57-year-old William Shanks, Jr., was walking on Southeast 27th Street when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Dewayne Myrick of Gainesville. Shands was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Neither Myrick nor his passenger, 30-year-old Shikia Jackson, sustained injuries in the accident. There is no word on how the accident took place.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating at this time. There is no further information available.
