Gainesville, FL (August 4, 2019) - A 40-year-old man from Williston died in a two-vehicle crash in Gainesville on Friday, August 2nd. The crash happened on State Road 121, near the intersection with 75th Street.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Shawn Edward Gyovai was driving a 2000 Honda eastbound on 75th Street, with 37-year-old Anthony Folks as a passenger. As he approached the intersection with 75th Street, Gyovai's Honda struck the front of 2007 Hyundai Azera driven by 56-year-old Lynda Kay Cooper, of Brunswick, Georgia.
Gyovai was killed in the crash, while Folks was taken to UF Health Shands with serious injuries. Cooper and her passenger, 86-year-old Albert George Hampshire, sustained minor injuries. No word was given on whether any criminal charges are expected and no additional details are currently available.
