Last year in Florida, over 10,000 pedestrians were hurt in crashes with vehicles. A pedestrian crash may occur for a variety of reasons, including:
- Driver inattention or distraction
- Failure to stop at stop signs or red lights
- Failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
- Pedestrian error
When an accident takes place that is not the pedestrian's fault the pedestrian has certain legal rights. In Florida, a pedestrian may bring a personal injury claim against the tortfeasor. A tortfeasor is a legal term for a person who acts negligently, causing an injury. There is not enough information at this time to determine fault in this crash at this time.
