Police were called to the scene of an accident that happened in Escambia County on Wednesday evening. Two people were injured in the Highway 29 rollover crash and had to be transported by Escambia County EMS to a Pensacola Hospital. Luckily, neither party received life-threatening injuries.
The accident took place last night around 7:15 p.m at the Pensacola Ready Mix. The two parties that were injured were trapped inside their SUV and identified as a driver and a passenger. Firefighters who arrived on the scene had to extricate them. The driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash did not have any injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident. Other responders at the scene of the crash included the Ensley and Cantonment stations of the Escambia Fire Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicles involved were a beige SUV, which tipped onto its side and a gray pickup truck with the front-end smashed after the accident.
Research shows us that rollover accidents have a higher incidence of leading to fatalities. Of the millions of accidents that happen every year, however, only around 2-3% include a rollover.
