Hillsborough County, FL (July 5, 2020) - A 61-year-old woman from Riverview was killed in a car accident on I-75 in Hillsborough County. The crash took place just before 11:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3rd.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was traveling southbound on I-75. At the same time, a 20-year-old man from Riverview was also traveling southbound on I-75 in a sedan. The man tried to change lanes. As he made the lane change, the right side of his vehicle struck the left side of the woman's pickup truck. The truck rolled over and came to rest in a median. The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The other driver sustained minor injuries.
The woman has not been identified at this time. Troopers are still investigating and there is no word on whether charges are expected.
Car accidents take place nearly all the time in Florida and there are multiple instances of fatal crashes reported each day throughout our state.
