Hillsborough County, FL (July 6, 2018) – When a pickup failed to yield yesterday morning, a moped crash occurred that led to serious injuries. The driver, a 28-year-old, was critically injured and sent to the hospital.
The accident led to critical injuries in one party, identified as 28-year-old Narciso Joseph Medina of Brandon. He was taken to the Tampa General Hospital in critical condition and it was determined that he was not wearing a helmet while riding his moped.
The other driver in the pickup truck was identified as 50-year-old Johnie Neil Odell of Ruskin. He did not receive injuries in the accident. However, he has since been cited for a right-of-way failure.
The crash happened close to 8 a.m. at the intersection of US 41 and Fourth Street. Odell was headed north and stopped his Nissan Titan at a stop sign near the intersection. He then entered into the intersection and struck the moped that Medina was on at the time. The moped collided with the rear of the vehicle.
At this time, we are unsure of Medina’s condition.
