According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Eric Diaz was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a Toyota RAV4. Investigators say that the RAV4 turned directly into Diaz's path just before the crash, causing it to occur. Diaz died at the crash scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the RAV4 was not immediately identified and it is not believed that any other injuries were sustained.
Troopers are still investigating and charges are pending at this time.
Our condolences are with the family of Eric Diaz following this tragic fatal crash in Hillsborough County. Each day, there are multiple deadly accidents reported in Florida. On average, police will respond to a fatal crash about once every three hours. Fatal crashes involving motorcycles are more common than other vehicles as motorcycles are often not well-equipped to handle the massive force generated in a car crash and riders are often ejected from their bikes, leading to serious injuries.
