Hillsborough County, FL (March 5, 2019) - A Tampa man was seriously hurt when his scooter was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 75 on Tuesday, March 5th.
32-year-old Choster Exantus was traveling in the southbound lanes of I-75 a low speed. At the same time, 54-year-old Gehan Rezk-Alla was traveling behind Exantus in a 2011 Toyota Sienna. Rezk-Alla struck the scooter from behind, pushing it off the roadway and onto the grass shoulder. Exantus sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol cited Rezk-Alla with careless driving for his role in the crash. No further details were released.
A reportable crash occurs approximately every 90 seconds in Florida. Many crashes are caused by drivers who fail to follow traffic laws.
