Immokalee, FL (October 4, 2019) - A teenager was killed in a two-car crash that took place in Immokalee on Thursday, October 3rd. The crash took place at the intersection of State Road 29 and Experimental Road.
17-year-old Luis Ramirez-Mejia was traveling northbound when he made a left-hand turn across the southbound lanes of SR 29. As he turned, he collided with a 2016 Freightliner driven by 42-year-old Micahel Franco. Rescue workers rushed Ramirez-Mejia to Naples Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Franco suffered minor injuries. No one else was hurt in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
