Indian River County, FL (April 8, 2021) - A 30-year-old man from Grant was killed in a three-car crash in Indian River County on Thursday, April 8th. The accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on 154th Avenue near the Florida's Turnpike and Interstate 95.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene. According to troopers, a man from Brevard County was driving a white Ford Fusion when he attempted to make a left-hand turn across the eastbound lanes. As he turned, the man's vehicle was hit by two cars. He died at the accident scene. Another driver, a 33-year-old man from Okeechobee, was seriously hurt in the accident. A third vehicle struck the first two vehicles as it passed through. The driver of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries.
The names of the victims are not available at this time. An investigation is underway.
Deadly car accidents in Florida take place about eight times per day. According to statistics from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, about 3,100 people died in Florida car accidents in 2019. This number has remained relatively steady in recent years as our state is consistently one of the most dangerous in the nation for motorists.
