Indian Rocks Beach, FL - One Dead in Crash Involving Car, PTSA Bus, Pedestrian

Indian Rocks Beach, FL (November 13, 2018) - Police in Pinellas County are currently investigating a fatal crash. The crash happened around 3:20 pm on Monday, November 12th.
Deputies responded to the scene at Gulf Boulevard and 4th Avenue where they discovered that a vehicle, a transit bus and a pedestrian were all involved in the crash. The pedestrian suffered critical injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital where they later died. No additional injuries were reported. The pedestrian was not identified by authorities pending next-of-kin notification.
The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle may have been at fault for the crash but no details regarding the accident or how it occurred have been released at this time.
Motorists were told to avoid the area from Gulf Boulevard at 1st through 5th Avenue while police investigated the scene. No additional information is available.
A fatal crash will be reported approximately every three hours in Florida. With this crash, we do not have enough details to say how it occurred. The man, identified as 27-year-old Johnson Frye, Jr. was walking on the southbound shoulder of the roadway. Suddenly, Frye was struck by a Nissan Altima that was also headed south. Frye sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.
