Jacksonville, FL (October 25, 2019) - A 7-year-old child sustained critical injuries after a crash between two cars on the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville. The crash took place on Thursday, October 24th around 11:00 p.m.
According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, a Honda Pilot became disabled and was parked in the outside lane with its emergency flashers on. Suddenly, a Jeep Wrangler came from behind and slammed into the Pilot. A 7-year-old child inside the Pilot was critically hurt and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The Pilot driver, 40-year-old Jared Osterhage, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries as was the Jeep driver, 34-year-old John Esquierdo. Multiple lanes of the roadway were blocked after the accident.
Police have not released any additional detail and there is no word on whether charges are expected.
