Jacksonville, FL (August 8, 2019) - A pedestrian who was killed in a crash along Airport Road earlier this week has been identified. Police say that 60-year-old James Allan Schupolsky has been identified as the victim.
Reports indicate that Schupolsky was at the intersection of Airport Road and Duval Road around 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6th. Schupolsky was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a Honda CR-V. The 60-year-old driver of the CR-V was traveling eastbound in the inside travel lanes of Airport Road when the crash happened.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Schupolsky died at the scene, while the Honda driver was not hurt. There is no further information available at this time.
Our condolences go out to the family of James Schupolsky in this tragic Jacksonville pedestrian crash. Fatal pedestrian accidents take place about twice per day in Florida. Many pedestrian crashes have catastrophic consequences and, unfortunately, can be fatal in the worst-case scenario. Police will continue to investigate the cause of this crash in an effort to determine responsibility.
