Jacksonville, FL (September 29, 2018) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was struck and injured by a vehicle early Thursday evening, September 27, on the Southside of Jacksonville. FHP stated that a 32-year-old Jacksonville man was hit by a vehicle while crossing Phillips Highway at around 6:15 p.m.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway, north of Baymeadows Road when he entered the path of a Chevrolet Uplander that was traveling south on the Highway. According to troopers, the man who was struck was crossing the road, however, he was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.
The victim was immediately transported to Memorial Hospital with injuries that were listed as critical. The driver of the Uplander was reported to have been unharmed in the accident. Florida Highway Patrol stated that charges are currently pending, although no further information has been made available. Authorities are continuing an investigation into this incident.
