A Port Charlotte woman, identified as 38-year-old Jessica Ward, died on Tuesday after she was driving the wrong way on the highway. Ward drove in the wrong direction in Lee County on State Road 80. The crash took place around 2:30 p.m.
There was a passenger in Ward’s vehicle, identified as 15-year-old Paris Madison. Ward steered evasively into the right turn lane when she approached the other vehicle, which caused a head-on collision.
