Lake County, FL (March 30, 2019) - A 22-year-old woman from Fruitland Park died in a crash that took place Thursday, March 28th. The crash happened along State Road 19, near Matteson Lane.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that 19-year-old Samantha Monroe was driving a 2003 Ford. Monroe lost control of her vehicle, veered off the roadway, and struck a tree. Dallis Hunter, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Monroe was airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Police have not said what caused the crash to occur; however, there are charges pending against Monroe at this time.
A fatal crash is reported in Florida every three hours. We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Dallis Hunter during this very difficult time in their lives.
