Lake County, FL (June 2, 2019) - A driver and passenger are dead following a crash that took place on Friday, May 31st. The accident occurred on County Road 48 around 6:30 p.m.
According to reports, 18-year-old Phillip Leslie was driving eastbound on CR 48 with his passenger, 18-year-old Joseph Machado. For reasons unknown, Leslie lost control of the car, causing it to leave the roadway and crash head-on into a tree. Both Leslie and Machado died at the scene of the crash. Police are still investigating what may have caused the car to leave the road but have not released a cause for the crash at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
Our condolences go out to the two teenagers who tragically lost their lives in this Lake County crash. Further investigation will be needed to determine the cause of the collision.
