Lake County, FL (August 28, 2021) - Two people died after a crash in Lake County on Friday night. The accident happened on the Florida Turnpike.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. According to troopers, a pickup truck was carrying two people when it collided with a tow truck. The driver of the pickup was ejected at the scene. The tow truck driver was assisting a disabled vehicle when the crash took place. The two deceased victims were in the truck a the time of the collision. The driver was identified as a 51-year-old man while the passengers were underage.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. There is no additional information available.
In 2019, more than 3,000 people lost their lives in Florida traffic accidents. This number has remained steady over the past several years as the number of motorists and reported accidents have increased. While no one ever expects to be involved in a serious crash, the accident can take place on a daily basis. Police will continue to investigate this accident to determine the cause.
