Lakeland, FL (November 24, 2019) - A fatal pedestrian crash has been reported in Lakeland. The crash took place on Friday, November 22nd around 8:34 p.m in the 1200 block of Kathleen Avenue.
Police say that Collis Holley was walking along the roadway when he was hit by a Ford E250 van that was traveling in the outside lane. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and transported Holley to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the van, Eric Trisch, stopped and remained at the scene following the crash. The roadway was closed for nearly four hours while investigators worked at the scene.
There is no word on whether any charges are expected.
Approximately two fatal pedestrian crashes are reported each day in Florida. Pedestrian accidents can be a devastating event for victims and their families. Well over half of all pedestrian crashes will result in injuries for the victim, many of them serious and fatal injuries.
