Largo, FL (July 11, 2021) - A bicyclist in Largo was killed in a crash that took place on Saturday, July 10th. The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on 66th Street North near Ulmerton Road.
According to the Largo Police Department, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound across the street when they were struck by a northbound vehicle. The unidentified bicyclist was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead as a result of their injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not hurt in the crash. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed at this time.
An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Largo Police Department.
Bicycling is great exercise and a fun hobby for many Floridians. The dangers of riding a bicycle, however, cannot be understated. The fact is that any crash involving a vehicle and a bicycle is likely to lead to very serious injuries and even death in some cases. Bicyclists should always remember to wear helmets and follow all applicable safety and traffic laws to reduce the risk of a collision.
